After a few private releases to testers only, BitFinder is finally coming out to the public.
Even thought this release is still an alpha, it’s a very stable release, with many fixes and minor new features. This release should be perfectly functional, since pretty much everything on it should be working just fine (besides the presets and UAC issues with Windows Vista/7).
If you’re using Windows Vista/7 and want to use shell integration or search inside system folders/partitions and want to avoid UAC issues, just make sure you run BitFinder with administrator privileges.
On Windows XP and previews, if you are using an administrator account, there’s nothing you need to do, just run BitFinder and it will work just fine. If you are using a limited account, then you will need to use the “Run As” and run BitFinder with administrator privileges or else shell integration will not work.
On a search make sure you type in the path to search, or use the “Other” option on the presets list. Also make sure you have “All files” selected. The other presets are not implemented yet.
Any bug report or suggestions will be gladly welcome.
